Cookies on Land & Legacy
We have kept this short. Land & Legacy uses a small amount of local storage to run the site and, with your consent, to remember your preferences between visits.

What we store and why
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to work. We do not ask for consent to store them.
- Mapbox map data
- Three entries in your browser's local storage that allow the heritage map to load tiles and track usage against our Mapbox account. These include a randomly generated identifier (mapbox.eventData.uuid) that persists between visits. Mapbox is an American company. Their privacy policy is at mapbox.com/legal/privacy.
- Sign-in session
- If you create an account, we set cookies that keep you signed in between pages. These are required for accounts to work and are removed when you sign out. We do not ask for consent to set them because they are strictly necessary to provide the service you requested.
Saved places and preferences
Stored only if you choose "Accept all" or enable this category under "Manage" on the cookie banner.
- Visited places and wishlist
- Properties you have marked as visited or saved to your wishlist, stored locally in your browser. If you are signed out, this data never leaves your device. If you create an account, your saved places are also stored on our database so they sync across your devices. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- Onboarding preferences
- ll_welcome_accepted, ll_map_guide_seen and ll_map_panel_dismissed remember that you have seen the welcome message and map guide so they do not reappear.
Analytics
We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how people use the site and to improve it. PostHog is hosted in the EU. Analytics cookies are optional and only load if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer.
Analytics data includes pages visited, general location (country level), device type, and actions like clicks and searches. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising. Read PostHog's privacy policy for more detail.
Your consent choice itself is stored under the key ll_consent.
What we do not use
We do not use advertising cookies. No data from your visit is sold or shared with advertisers.
Changing your preferences
You can change your preferences at any time. Clear ll_consent from your browser's local storage (via your browser settings), then refresh any page on the site. The banner will reappear.
